Concrete Additions for Newer Lake Nona Homes
Lake Nona is a 17-square-mile, 11,000-acre mixed-use planned community inside the City of Orlando, southeast of Orlando International Airport, and most people who call concrete contractors in Lake Nona want to add to a fairly new home. Wikipedia notes the population grew from about 1,500 in 2000 to over 50,000 by 2015. With so many homes built recently, our work here is mostly patio additions, pool deck extensions, driveway widening and walks, along with repairs where builder concrete has cracked or settled.
Four city neighborhoods
The City of Orlando officially divides Lake Nona into four neighborhoods: Lake Nona Central, Lake Nona Estates, Lake Nona South and Northlake Park. Lake Nona Central includes the USTA National Campus, and Lake Nona Estates includes the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. Lake Nona Medical City holds the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and other research centers, and Education Village, once Narcoossee Groves, includes Lake Nona High School and a Valencia College campus.
Because Lake Nona is inside the city, right-of-way and permit questions go to the City of Orlando, not Orange County. Most neighborhoods also have associations with architectural review.
Adding to builder concrete
Builders often pour a basic driveway and a small back slab. Owners then want a bigger patio, a summer kitchen pad, an extended pool deck or a side walk. Tying new concrete to old takes care: we cut a clean edge, dowel the new section to the existing slab so the two move together, and match the finish as closely as we can. New concrete will look lighter at first and blend over time, so some owners choose a contrasting border on purpose.
We also check slope. Adding a patio can change how water moves across a yard, and the last thing you want is a new slab that sends water toward the house or a neighbor's lot.
HOA and design review
Most Lake Nona neighborhoods have design guidelines covering patio size, driveway changes and decorative colors. Send them ahead or bring them to the estimate, and we will design within them and provide a drawing and material description for your application. That saves a rejected request and a second round.
Summer weather
The Orlando area averages about 51 inches of rain a year, with strong afternoon storms almost every day in summer. We schedule early pours, protect fresh concrete from sudden rain and keep slabs moist while they cure in the heat.

Lake Nona Questions
Who issues permits for concrete work in Lake Nona?
Lake Nona is inside the City of Orlando, so right-of-way permits go through the city. Your neighborhood's design review may also need to approve the work.
Will my patio extension match the existing slab?
We match finish and joint layout, but new concrete starts lighter and blends over months. A border is a clean way to make the change look intentional.
Can you extend my pool deck?
Yes. We tie the new section to the existing deck and grade it to drain away from the pool and house.
Can you pour a pad for an outdoor kitchen?
Yes. We size and reinforce the pad for the weight of the counters and grill, run it level for the cabinets and slope the surrounding patio so water drains away.
How soon can I use a new patio?
Light foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two, and furniture can go back after about a week.
